Pres spox: State share indispensable in some Russian econ areas
MOSCOW, Feb 8 (PRIME) -- The government’s share in the Russian economy must be reduced in areas where the state is an ineffective manager but there are areas where the state has no alternatives as an owner, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.
Business daily Vedomosti reported earlier on Wednesday that the Federal Antimonopoly Service had called for forbidding state companies and state unitary enterprises to buy new assets, both directly and through affiliates.
“There are areas where the private sector is just unable to occupy any competitive position and the government is an owner with no alternatives there, this is an absolutely normal practice,” Peskov said.
